Allison Summers

Allison Summers is a specialist criminal law advocate undertaking a range of cases in London and on the South-Eastern and Midland Circuits. She is known for her meticulous case preparation, formidable court advocacy and client care.
A predominantly defence-based practitioner, she specialises in cases of serious violence, sex and drugs offences and regularly undertakes work in complex fraud, money laundering and confiscation.
Allison is often instructed in cases involving expert witnesses, capacity issues (including fitness to plead) and cases involving young defendants and witnesses. She has conducted cases involving the use of intermediaries both for prosecution witnesses and the defendant and has extensive experience of dealing with young defendants, often with behavioural and other medical problems including Aspergers, Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Her range of experience in homicide cases covers domestic murders, issues of provocation, joint enterprise and somnambulism (sleep walking). She is regularly instructed in cases involving grievous bodily harm and wounding, often involving expert evidence relating to complex DNA, blood-staining and mechanism of injury.
Allison has an established practice in cases involving rape, including marital rape, and other sexual offences both of a recent and historical nature. She has been involved in several cases relating to offences of voyeurism involving the use of covert recording equipment. Indecent image cases have involved her applying in technical expertise including the workings of file sharing, inadvertent downloads and interrogation techniques.
As well as sexual offences and offences of violence, she continues to defend in drug offence cases. Particularly cases concerning cannabis factories and importation and large-scale drug conspiracies.
Allison has prosecuted numerous matters on behalf of the Revenue and Customs Prosecution Office (RCPO) involving offences of cheat, money laundering and importation offences. She has been involved in several large complex carousel and Missing Trader Intra-Community (MTIC) frauds. She has a particular interest in disclosure and has been retained in a number of large, sensitive and complex cases specifically as disclosure counsel.
Allison is a grade 3 Prosecutor, was appointed to the Attorney General’s List of Prosecuting Advocates in 2006 and to the Serious Fraud Office List of Advocates in 2009.
