Chambers has a strong Public Law Group. The group undertakes a broad variety of public law-related work in the County Court and various Tribunals as well as judicial review applications in the High Court and Court of Appeal. Members of the group have represented in the House of Lords, the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights.
It is recognised that public law principles can arise in a wide number of matters and the implementation of the Human Rights Act 1998 has led to an increase in work requiring representation by skilled public law counsel.
Chambers is acknowledged for its strengths in the public law field and offers barristers who advise and represent in matters relating to:
- Anti-Social Behavioural Orders
- Asylum and Immigration
- Asylum Support
- Civil Liberties
- Community Care
- Education
- Environmental Protection
- European Community Law
- Housing
- Local Government
- Mental Health
- Prison Law
- Social Services
A professional and sympathetic approach is taken to actions brought by claimants and this can be seen by the number of reported cases in which members of the group have successfully represented.
Chambers has a long history of working with Local Authorities and has a proven record of offering insightful representation upon complex issues arising out of the many duties owed by Local Authorities.
The group is aware that the number of authoritative cases continues to grow apace in this fast-changing area of law and in response regularly presents lectures and prepares newsletters and summaries of important cases which are available to all those who are interested.
